The appointment arrives at a moment of accelerating activity in southern New Mexico. Spaceport America is the operational home of Virgin Galactic and hosts tenant facilities for a growing roster of aerospace companies, including Hermeus, Prismatic (a BAE Systems company), UP Aerospace Inc., Swift Engineering, AeroVironment, and SpinLaunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a board member, Prendamano will help set policy, provide financial oversight, participate in hiring the executive director, and guide long-term strategy tied to aerospace growth and statewide economic development. The Authority operates under the Spaceport Development Act and manages infrastructure, airspace, safety, and tenant relationships supporting vertical and horizontal commercial launches, as well as unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), aviation, and advanced technology operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rob Black, secretary of the New Mexico Economic Development Department, welcomed the addition. “This appointment is a solid addition to the board,” he said, noting that Prendamano brings private-sector leadership, economic development experience, and regional insight at a pivotal time for New Mexico’s space economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prendamano expressed enthusiasm for the role. “Spaceport America represents innovation, economic opportunity and long-term investment for Sierra County and communities across New Mexico,” he said. “I look forward to working with the board to support the growth and economic vitality the spaceport brings to the region.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
